Oh, wow, really?
I've tried installing many, many times. And the security is completely blocking it. I get about half way through, and then it just shuts it saying something about being unavailable.
That's odd. Sad
I recommend you download the patches, you may own an old version of the game, and a few people have reported they had to install the patches... http://thesims2.ea.com/update/

Also, check this out:

I hope you can solve this. Wink

Of course, since apparently I wasn't as skilled as I thought I was in this, do I have to rebuy it?
Or can I just download it, and then put the code in from the old version of the game I apparently have?
[/quote]No, you don't have to rebuy it.
If it's a computer problem, that won't solve it.
And if your copy is flawed, you should try to contact EA. But if your copy worked before on a different operating system, it's not its fault.

If you download the game, your old serial code won't work, because that code was made for a specific copy (yours). But of course, as a good samaritan, I don't recommend that (downloading the game at all).

Sims 2 should work on Vista if you have a modern graphics card and 1 gig of ram.

Vista is the next step up so of course it will work. By the time of release, most people will probabkly have Vista... particulary with the amount of people buying new computers ready for the game. And besides, if it works for Sims 2, then it will for The Sims 3 ;D

I had trouble with installing and playing BV on my new laptop with Vista. One thing I did was to check and see if Windows made any updates that you may not know about. (It doesn't tell you when it makes updates on Vista) My Vista had made many updates and those updates were saying that my Sims games were viruses. That's how they were reading the discs.

Well, in '04 when TS2 came out Vista didn't exist.
And even if it ain't perfect for gaming, it's rather popular now, so I'm pretty sure they'll make it available for Vista.

I'm kinda worried about the guys with Macs though.

I think they'll make it available for Mac one way or another. Either they'll make it available for Mac right away, or they'll go through Aspyr again. I really hope for the first option. It would be awesome if I didn't have to pay twice as much for my game, or have to play the PC version on BootCamp... *is Mac user*

I've been running The Sims 2 on a partition using Windows, but I really don't like Windows much, it's stupid and crashy. So I'm really hoping they'll do like they're doing with Spore, releasing the game simultaneously for Mac, skipping the middle-man, Aspyr. I hate Aspyr. They're pretty much taking twice as much money for a fraction of the work. The only thing they do is recode the game, and the graphics aren't even as good, even though Mac supports higher end graphics cards; Nvidia GeForce 8800 is out for Mac now, even. And with Cider available, it wouldn't take more than two extra people on the production team to recode the game to Mac. They could even release dual boot DVD-roms, like Blizzard does.

A Mac computer is the most flawless computer with the safest and the most stable OS in the world. I, myself have a Windows pc but trust me Macs are just a work of perfection. You do nothing but enjoy them and they can do everything including playing the Sims!

I regret not having one, they are a bit more expensive than Windows pcs but they are definitely worth every penny!

The only problem is that Aspyr does a crap job at recoding The Sims to Mac. Trust me. I have a MacPro, the best Apple computer yet, and the graphics are totally sub-standard, even though I run the PC version on my Windows partition (on the same computer) on highest possible graphics options, and it's flawless. Aspyr should just go hang themselves, and EA should wise up and begin releasing games for the growing Mac community themselves, without the middle-men.

So does anyone know if they'll make Sims 3 available for Vistas?

ts1 and 2 work on vista...... so TS3 will definetely
