Glandular Fever
Ok, so some of you may know I've been pretty sick recently.
And my blood tests came back positive for an illness called Glandular Fever.
Here are some of the basics about it;
This is so you know now, that whenever I'm complaining about something, its probably got something to do with this.

What is it?
Glandular fever is a viral infection associated with a high fever.
It's also known as infectious mononucleosis or kissing disease (long ago it was realised that the infection was passed on through saliva - for example, by kissing)
Ps, I didn't get it through kissing :3

Causes
Glandular fever is caused by the Epstein-Barr virus
Infection begins in the salivary glands, which release large amounts of the virus into the saliva. The infection spreads to the B lymphocytes, causing them to multiply, and causing the lymph glands to swell and become painful.
Once infected, the virus remains dormant in the body's cells for the rest of a person's life.

I can't treat it, I can't cure it. I've been told to take lots of paracetamol, and get plenty of rest.
This is why I've been ill recently,
Just thought some of you may be interested.

Re: Glandular Fever
Yuh, remains active for about 3-4 weeks, but the virus remains in me forever [just dormant] so it could come up again at any time.
Its the same for another illness I had a while back called shingles. That can come back when I'm stressed.

Re: Glandular Fever
It comes back up when I get stressed apparently.
I'm in trouble then, as I can sense a lot of stress coming my way from this weekend onward.

IDK, but I've had it twice.
