Yes, Ben Goldacre's 'Bad Science' book is great and I support his campaign against suppressing negative outcomes of clinical trials. It's of personal interest to me. I particularly liked the line in that book that said something like "Dr Gillian McKeith, or, to give her the proper medical title: Gillian McKeith." I could start laying into holistic medicine in general, but I fear that I'd find it difficult to stop and wouldn't do my blood pressure much good.

Careers advisers sometimes give out some really bad careers advice, unfortunately.

And yes I totally agree about not doing free work for big corporations.

Destroying old floppy disks (after finding, mysteriously, dozens of them in a drawer)! It was fun at first but now I have grown weary of it. Also a tiny spring flew up and nearly hit me in the eye.

You should've kept the floppy disks and sold them on eBay, because surely there would be floppy disk collectors out there who would pay top dollar for any floppy disk found.

Gosh do you think so? The problem I had was that they still had data on them and none of the computers I have access to have floppy disk drives, so I had no way to wipe the data off them. Instead I attacked them with a paper knife and scissors until they were thoroughly destroyed. Oh well.

Right now I'm trying to work out how to sync the stuff on my computer to the Extravagant Purchase I made last week (in case you are wondering - iPad Mini!).

I am also trying to resist taking any antihistamines until later in the day so that they'll last longer into the evening, as I was informed yesterday that the 70th birthday party I'm attending tonight is taking place in a garden. Nooooooooo! Or, rather - acccchoooooooo!

I love my iPad Mini! I'm so happy with it!

Only downside is it's quite awkward to post on this forum with it. I can't use "reply" but I can use "quick reply" and even that doesn't work in Safari so I downloaded Chrome. But it doesn't matter.

Right now I'm waiting for coffee to be made. Got home late last night from a 70th birthday party and am feeling the need for caffeine! Apparently people twice my age have more partying stamina than I do!
