Re: HOW COULD THEY DO THIS?!?!?!
I feel your pain, Cassie. I seriously thought it was a joke when I saw the countdown on MN. And they're only doing it for the money...shame. {no}

I honestly can't even tell you how much this bothers me. It's the most ridiculous thing...

POA was released in the Summer and it was their lowest grossing film ever, so I don't really understand what's going on in their evil twisted minds. 11 months? Are you kidding me? We'll have Sims 3 by then for goodness sakes!

I always thought EA were rather treacherous but now they look like saints in comparison.

By the way, thanks for the sympathy and understanding guys, and I love you if you signed the petition, means a lot. {yes}

I still cannot believe they did this... they released release dates for November just a couple weeks ago as well... and the trailers... grrr. Kill them all.  {glare} This has destroyed my whole Summer.

Re: HOW COULD THEY DO THIS?!?!?!
The fifth movie's success had nothing to do with it's release date. I mean, if someone's going to see it, they'll see it when it's released, no matter when that is. The fifth movie was only successful because a)it was most fans' favourite book and b)it looked "darker" and had a new feel to it, therefore bringing in a new crowd. I hate that they think it was only successful because of it's release date.

And now what will they do? Sit on it? I mean, the movie is done. It's completely selfish of them to push it back just for the money. I lost a lot of respect for them, let me tell you that.

Re: HOW COULD THEY DO THIS?!?!?!
Hell, the sixth would have still done amazingly well...probably better than the fifth, even. How greedy...and how foolish!

Re: HOW COULD THEY DO THIS?!?!?!
I never had much respect for them but I still thought they were decent. They've never pulled a stunt like this in the HP world. This is definitely a first. In fact, it completely mirrors what we usually get.

What USUALLY happens is, we all share one release date for a while, and then they'll post a bunch of release dates that are different for the countries but mostly round the same time period.

And then, about 2 weeks before it's released, Andrew'll make a post saying 'Hey guess what! Great News! USA gets it a whole day earlier! This is definitely great news for us all', which totally disrespects every country other than the US and starts a big political argument in the comments section with random peacemakers in between.

THAT'S what usually happens.

I agree with all you said, apart from, is OOTP really most people's favourite book? I always got the idea that most people thought it was good but not the best. I didn't think OOTP was that fantabulous considering it's size.

YAY! Big Grin

I thought you might be a little disappointed because I know you like the films. Which reminds me! I'm making you watch the rest of the video on YouTube! Tongue

Re: HOW COULD THEY DO THIS?!?!?!
Hey, the second one is great! It just takes a while to get going. Wink

And we've already started making up plans to not see the film in the cinema for the first two weeks and teach them a lesson, they'll pee their pants. Then they'll think long and hard about doing something like this again.

Re: HOW COULD THEY DO THIS?!?!?!
Yep, OotP was voted #1 in the series about a year and a half ago. I never really cared for it, myself...I like the two later books, as you know. If I remember correctly, the order was:

1. OotP
2. PoA
3. HBP
4. GoF
5. SS
6. CoS

And, of course, DH wasn't released then. Anyhoo, that's probably why it did so well. One of the reasons why, anyway.
