Re: 8:08 wish for NO Securcom in the sims 3 (lol)
Can someone please supply a source of where this 'register every 10 days' rumor comes from?!

Securom itself doesn't do this - Link to Securom Wikipedia entry

I'm always happy to help! If you need anything, just send me a personal message (PM) and I'll try help if I can...

They will lose truckloads of money
it's a rumor that what securcom does
it may be a true rumor but i'm not sure we know enought about it
i thought it was just a security thing designed to help stop piracy
and i remember seeing stuff about people having problems with FT 'cause of securcom so isn't it already in TS2?

I thought it was, too. And I think people are only believing the '10 day' thing because they think it's a feature added to stop people from sharing disks.

But I need this to be confirmed by them before I start spreading it around. Wink

Re: 8:08 wish for NO Securcom in the sims 3 (lol)
SecuROM was included in The Sims Pet Stories, The Sims Castaway Stories, The Sims 2 Deluxe, The Sims 2: H&M Fashion Stuff, The Sims 2: Bon Voyage, The Sims 2: Teen Style Stuff and The Sims 2: FreeTime.

I'm pretty sure (although not 100% as this is just my opinion) that you wouldn't not have to register every 10 days, this would be marketing suicide, especially for a game with limited/no online play! All SecuROM does is stop the ability to make copies of the disk, but it's caused problems and made people unhappy because it used to install software deep in your PC without telling you. I think it still does this, but it informs the user now and gives them a choice (although if they say no, the game won't run, so it's not much of a choice!).

But anyway, I doubt very much it'll force you to register every 10 days, if it does I'll eat my virtual hat {tophat}

I agree. That just seems like a VERY poor move on their part if it is true. I just don't think they'd do such a thing.

This "rumor" is not a rumor at all, it's true;

From snootysims;

dateline= Wrote:The last few days, a wave of unrest went through the Sims community regarding the new Securom that is planned in every future EA game. This new 'security' was going to make you validate the game every 10 days. Unable to do so, will make the game unplayable. Spore is one of the first games to implement this new Securom and Spore fans were enraged. There is even a forum made for this: Securom must be Destroyed.

Caryl Shaw, producer of Spore responded and EA decided NOT to use this 10 day validation in Spore. Note that it's still possible that they will have the new Securom in the Sims 3. However the chance for that is now much smaller.
Read more about this decision here: Kotaku.com

Well, I guess there's a chance it's true, then. It still doesn't sound right, though... Sad
