They had to take out an old amalgam filling in a top left premolar as by chance they spotted a shadow on an x-ray when looking over them in the middle of treating another tooth, & as there was no nerve in it it was pointless asking me if the tooth had been giving me trouble.

So they dug down, and found it very rotten inside, to their horror & confusion. Once they cleaned it out, they saw what had happened. The tooth had been given root treated & sealed, but the amalgam developed a tiny hole in the sides allow crap to get in. But the decay had all occured just where the amalgam was hiding it from the X-Rays, until a small part "peeped" out this visit after who knows how many years.

Bottom line is the tooth was saved, & another amalgam has been replaced with a plastic filling (unlike metal fillings the longer they're in the more they sink into the shape of your tooth, amalgam ones do the opposite) so that should be the end of my problems with that.

My premolars all hate me. I've only seven (one refused to come out) & all they ever do is give me trouble.
