Social issues
Hi
I've played three Sims games and have been a little perplexed by the relationships section. Obviously you meet people at work you are unaware of so you don't know you're supposed to chat to them and you get a message saying someone you've never heard of isn't your friend any more! Then at the other end of the scale a dramatic and meaningful encounter can give no relationship at all. My Sim came across Blair Wainright who she'd never met before at midnight in Central Park and Blair had just started labour. My Sim took her to hospital and stayed with her during the birth but there was no sign of her on my relationships list the following morning. I don't know if this is relevant but a while later my Sim encountered Blair at the Lofty Curelean and her introductory line to Blair was to "Compliment Bravery". I wonder if the game had remembered the situation and my Sim was recognising Blair's courage during the birth, anyway they became friends much more quickly than is normally the case so it did strike me that this might be the reason. Has anyone else come across this type of situation? Mandymusk |

RE: Social issues
I haven't encountered the exact situation you've described. But I've definitely seen some odd ones. Events that would be an instant bonding experience in real life barely move the relationship needle in the Sims. I guess that's just part of the game. They got a lot of things right. But there's definitely some odd quirks as well.

RE: Social issues
Actually the most bizarre social issue I came across was in my first game when my Sim's best friend expired while visiting my Sim's house. Next time I checked my relationships list the Grim Reaper was there as an acquaintance! If it had been the Grim Reaper from "Family Guy" then I probably would have got my Sim to hang out with him cos he's a real cool guy, but the Sims 3 version of the harbinger of death seems to take his duties much more seriously so inviting him over did not seem so appealing!
