Actually, that's the first in the US. The first transplant was performed on Isabelle Dinoire of France. {yes}

It's amazing what the Medical community can do these days.  And as the article says, with time her face will improve even further.  I applaud that woman :3

I know.  But considering what her life was like recently, I bet it's all worth it.
