Re: »»¦ Ãear Ĵournal: The life of a Spare ¦«« - justinL92 - 06-02-2009 06:09 AM She is such a nice mom my mom would probably cry at first then kill me,and rant on what she did wrong as a parent. Re: »»¦ Ãear Ĵournal: The life of a Spare ¦«« - Majick - 06-02-2009 04:09 PM In my mind, the Main Family Household is very loving, but tend to be neglectful of the children who end up not being the Heir. Like, in my mind, the first Gavin and Gabrielle were thrown out once Gypsy was chosen to be the Heiress, and in my mind they're a bit snotty. lol I have a storyline in my head, even if I don't play a storyline in my posts. It's how I keep enjoying the family as much as I do. So, naturally, having been raised and seen the effects of how a family with High Breeding would behave, Gabrielle is trying really hard to be supportive of her children, and letting them live their lives; but she makes sure to step in and take a stand from time to time of course. Can a Sim know the day they're going to die? Is that possible? I wonder, if so ... Gavin moved out shortly after his 20th birthday, and got an apartment with Trista. I felt kind of sad that he was gone, but he and Trista came over pretty frequently. Usually when they did, I always had some sort of advice for them; I'm a mom, I can't help it! ![]() It went on like this a couple of years. One night they came over for dinner, because it was his little sister's 19th birthday, and she said she had some big news. Naturally, my first concern went straight to "Mom, I'm pregnant.", but Gavin told me it wasn't like that. Although, it could be worse. ![]() That night, Jordan at us all down, and we talked. She was jorning the Military ..! I about died right there. Chris was furious! He went on a tangent about how his little girl wasn't going to do that to herself, and that he'd march her right down to the recruiting office and have the forms pulled. Trista piped in. "It's too late, actually ..." she said. "Jordan told Gavin and me this morning. And ... they're picking her up tonight at ten." "What?" I was so shocked. Here it was quarter after nine already. I was so mad. Chris was furious. She had made a drastic choice, and didn't even bother to talk it over with us! This was huge, it was insane! But there was nothing we could do now. She was 19 for one, and on her way to the army ... ![]() ![]() Jordan went upstairs, and I followed her silently. She still had to finish packing, I just stood in the doorway, watching her. My little girl ... she stood there, fishing through her clothes, she actually looked a little sad. I had to keep myself from crying; she was an adult now, much as I hated to have to admit it ... ![]() She enlisted for a long haul - she must be really mad at us for some reason, was the only thing I could think. But, we sent her pictures from home. We were getting up there in age by this point, both Chris and myself had gone gray! I decided to retire, but Chris kept going to work. He said he needed to keep his mind preoccupied. I can understand that. ![]() ![]() One day Gavin came over, and announce he and Trista had gotten married. I was thrilled, but at the same time heart-broken; my children were living their lives, and leaving me out of it. I tried to be happy, but it was hard. Gavin looked upset. "What's wrong, Hun?" "There was a fire at our apartments ... we lost everything ..." "Oh my word, Gavin! Why didn't you say something sooner?!" "Because I figured start with the good news, end with the bad?" I sighed, and told him he and Trista could come stay with us for a while. ![]() ![]() Jordan came home, safe and sound! But, we didn't get to celebrate for long. She had been home just a few days when Isaiah came over - they'd been in touch all this time, working out their relationship despite the distance. I couldn't help but be proud of them. The age difference wasn't such a big deal now that they were older, and deffinately more mature. But it was still hard knowing that Jordan was dating her brother's half-brother. ![]() But, they wouldn't be dating for long. That day, Isaiah proposed! Right there in front of everyone, he got down on one knee, and asked her to marry him. Naturally, she accepted. At least I got to see this one! ![]() ![]() ![]() I told Isaiah to stand put, and I snapped a picture of him. The last picture I got of him, he was just a small child playing the playground equipment back at the apartments. ![]() Just a few months later, they were married. Jordan moved in with Isaiah not long after he proposed. He invited the whole family over, and asked if I'd take pictures of the simple little backyard ceremony; and naturally I did! ![]() ![]() Things went on pretty smoothly after that for a while. We were all on speaking terms again (Gavin and Isaiah hadn't talked in years), and we were happy. Gavin and Trista both worked full time jobs, but their hours were pretty good - everyone was always home in time to sit down and have dinner together. One morning I went over to Chris and sat with him, he smiled and stood up, taking my hand in his. I stroked his face, he felt cool, and had a sense of calm around him. "I love you, Gabrielle." He said to me, "more than I ever though I'd love anyone. And these years of our lives together have been amazing." I laughed softly, and gave him a hug. "Oh, you silly man. I still don't know why you married me!" "Because you could dance, sweetie. Seeing you that night in the club, all those years ago ... I just knew I had to meet you." "Well, I'm glad that you did!" ![]() ![]() Then he just looked at me, and held me close. "You're going to be late for work, dear." "It's okay, I don't mind." He kissed me, then left for work. Gavin and Trista helped clean the kitchen after breakfast, they both had the day off, which was rare, but always a welcomed change of pace. Gavin and I played chess for a couple of hours, until Trista came upstairs and told me I had a phone call. I let her take my place at the chess table; that girl could really play! I got to the phone and said hello, then waited for the other person. It was silent for a moment, had they hung up? But then Walter cleared his throat, and asked how I was doing. I was fine, enjoying the day with my Son and his Wife here in the house. We made idle chat, and then ... He was gone. Chris was gone. He had been walking down the hall, on his way to a procedure, when he simply went limp, and collapsed. Walter and several R.N.'s rushed him over to the Cardiology Wing, but it was too late. A massive heart attack grabbed him and had taken him. I stood there, I couldn't cry, I couldn't walk. I could hardly breath. Walter had to check to make sure I was still there. Gavin and Trista came down the stairs, and they grabbed me, Trista said I was so pale, I looked as though I had seen a ghost. Gavin took the phone, and Walter repeated the events to him. Gavin dropped the phone, and burst into sobs. It's the first time I ever saw my Son cry. He'd never cried over Nikhil in front of us, he always did it in private, but now ... the loss of the man he admired and respected the most had come to an end ... and there was no holding back. ![]() ![]() That's why I wonder ... can a Sim know when their finally day is upon them? Are we able to tell that a day is our final day? It was almost as if Chris knew he wouldn't be coming home that day, and made sure to make the morning with me, his final morning with me, the best he could have. We mourned for three months. The entire household wore black, Jordan and Isaiah would come over with pre-made dinners; none of us here had the strength to cook a meal now that Chris was gone - dinner just wasn't the same. It wasn't until I heard Jordan and Trista talking that I realized we were letting life just go past us. "That's wonderful! I hope Gavin tells mom soon." "I just told him this morning, he seemed to come back to life a little." "It hurts that Dad is gone, but they've got to move on already ... three months might not feel like much, but there's another life here now." "I know ... I told Gavin he and his mom need to get out of the house, or else life will pass them by too." It was true. We'd just been sitting, and moping for three months. Gavin had gained some weight, since we tended to order out a lot these days. Even poor Trista, who was always so thin was putting on the pounds. I hardly ate at all, so didn't gain too much. Gavin, Trista and myself joined a gym, and went three times a week. In two months time, Gavin and I had slimmed back down, I even went and got a mini make-over! And finally convinced Gavin to cut his hair. ![]() ![]() It wasn't until I came home one day and saw Trista cooking Salmon for dinner ... and wearing this simple little red and white outfit ... that I finally realized what Jordan meant by " there's another life here now." ... I just stared at my daughter-in-law ... who was carrying my first grandchild! ![]() She turned around, and I hugged her. She then said "I hope you like Salmon, mom. It's the one thing I've been craving all week." I laughed, and told her about when I was pregnant with Gavin, I also craved Salmon constantly! |
