Re: »»¦ Ãear Ĵournal: The life of a Spare ¦«« - Joann - 02-02-2009 05:01 AM it took me a second to realize why Nikhil was. . . not so attractive. You know, compared to Gavin and Isaiah. It's because the dad of them both are what's-his-face! That's why they both look the same/hawwt (: Re: »»¦ Ãear Ĵournal: The life of a Spare ¦«« - Majick - 02-02-2009 02:40 PM lol! Yeah, because Nathan has some decent Genetics, his two boys with the different women came out attractive. Sadly, Chris does not produce attractive kids. But, that's okay. Because it gave me a neat twist to my story
Re: »»¦ Ãear Ĵournal: The life of a Spare ¦«« - yummybunny - 02-02-2009 11:52 PM I feel sorry for him that his only biological child passed away though. It is so surprising that he treats the other boys, like he is their father, and not having the will to at least try for another biological child, like a lot of men may do. I'm glad the family's happy. That's an excellent twist you did though. Re: »»¦ Ãear Ĵournal: The life of a Spare ¦«« - Majick - 04-02-2009 05:48 PM Thanks ^_^ I'm still working on it, but I'm trying to think of what to do next with the family, lol. Give me some time, as I get more idea hahaha ^_^ Re: »»¦ Ãear Ĵournal: The life of a Spare ¦«« - Majick - 05-02-2009 05:01 PM ![]() Dear Journal, Another day, another entry! Sorry the updates are sooo sporatic, but life tends to be busy, especially when you're a Doctor! I got promoted and moved over to the Belladonna Cove Hospital with Chris, so things have been hectic. But, let's back track a little, shall we? For starters, Derek and Jill aren't dating anymore, one day it was really noisey, so I went outside to see what was going on, and there they were, Derek and Jill that is, fighting! I had to scold Isaiah, who was standing by cheering the fight on. Like those two needed any kind of additional encouragement, sheesh. Gavin just stood by in shock; he'd been raised that a man should never lay a hand on a woman unless it's in complete self-defence; and we all know that in these fights, Derek is the one who starts them, so it's Jill defending herself each and every time ![]() The days drew closer to when our little girl would be in our arms and our home. We hadn't told Gavin yet that we'd decided to adopt a mixed-race child. Her mother was Black and her father was White; but she was beautiful and such a sweetheart! Gavin spent a lot of time in the bedroom that would be for his little sister, straightening the sheets, dusting and vacuuming. He wanted everything to be perfect. I could still hear him crying softly at night; he misses Nikhil as much as we do, I know. But he can't bring himself to show it in front of us. ![]() Then the day came; our little girl would be knocking on our door any time now. We decided to have a Social Worker bring her to the new home, so that she could adjust slowly. I was nervous! Chris and Gavin were so excited, and we were going to have a more complete family once again. ![]() We had Gavin leave the room when the Van pulled up out front. We wanted to give Jordan a chance to get her barings before bringing out her new older brother. We told her about the son we'd lost, and how Gavin was so excited to have a little sister. She was so shy! But she smiled, and nodded. She was excited too. Then we called Gavin out into the living room, and had him sit on the couch with Jordan. He seemed a bit surprised at first; I don't think he was expecting Jordan to be mixed-race, and it took him but a moment to adjust. After a few moments of just staring at each other, Gavin made the first move. "Hi Jordan, I'm Gavin. I'm your big brother ..." "H-hello Gavin ... it is ... I'm happy to meet you." We all sat and talked for a long while, learning a lot about Jordan's previous life with her biological family. She was the youngest of five kids, her mother was Black and her father was White, three of the five came out very dark skinned, Jordan and one other sibling came out very light skinned, but only Jordan got the brown hair from her father. She was the only girl, too. Her parents married young, because they were pregnant with her oldest brother, Jeremy, and the family was not able to support all the kids. Jeremy, who was over 18 now moved out the first chance he got, taking two of their siblings with him by court order. Jordan and the sibling only two years older than her had to remain with the parents. But, the parents were devorcing, and things got violent. Soon, her own mother was beating her regularly, calling her names and forcing her to sleep in the furnace room in the basement. Her brother went to live with their father, but was soon also taken by the Social Worker and placed into a new home, a foster home. Jordan expressed a deep desire to not end up in foster care, but rather that she wanted a perminent family. The court favored Jordan's request, and that's how she ended up at the Adoption Agency awaiting a family. By the end of the evening, we all had a better understanding of Jordan's life; and we could tell it was going to take some time to convince her that we were going to love her no matter what. Even Gavin had pulled her close and was snuggling her and showing her affection by the end of the night. And we were so proud! And Jordan seemed beside herself, she was so thrilled! ![]() ![]() We decided to take a picture of Gavin and Jordan together, I made a copy to put specifically into this journal. ![]() Things are finally calming down, and as Christmas approached Jordan was behaving much more calmly and enjoyed group activities. At night, she and I would dance, while Chris would look on and smile proudly at "the two lady loves of his life", hehe! Gavin would often read to Jordan before bed, and she loved that. ![]() Nathan and his family had been away visiting Mary's mother, who was ill, and when they returned, we went over to introduce Jordan to her some-what half-brother isaiah. He took to her immediately, and she to him. She loved her extended family, Mary was especailly fond of the girl; she'd always wanted a daughter, it turns out. Which is why it was so devistating that she decided to get herself done so she couldn't have anymore children. She had hoped to try once more for a girl. Mary bought all kinds of things for Jordan for Cchristmas; a ton of new clothes, some make-up, CDs, movies, and even a $150.oo gift card to the mall. I actually heard Jordan crying that night, as she prayed to God, she had never known such generosity before. And she finally felt at home with us all. ![]() The day after Christmas, Gavin took Jordan outside to play in the snow, and they decided to build a snowman together. They worked at it for hours, but never finished it, as Isaiah, being a boy, came over and dove head first into the pile of would-be-snowman, completely destroying it! But, Gavin and Jordan thought it was hilarious, and a snowball fight erupted instead. After several hours of playing in the snow, they came inside, and we made some hot cocoa. This was the best Christmas I had ever experienced; I had a wonderful Husband, a handsome and healthy growing son, and a beautiful and smart little girl. Life was finally starting to look a lot less bleak, and a lot more hopeful. ![]() ![]() Re: »»¦ Ãear Ĵournal: The life of a Spare ¦«« - Majick - 05-02-2009 05:02 PM So, I decided to do a short update with the pictures I already had taken. I'm about to go play some more, so I might have something else too. Maybe a second short update, who knows. But, either way, I hope you enjoyed it! Re: »»¦ Ãear Ĵournal: The life of a Spare ¦«« - yummybunny - 05-02-2009 06:13 PM Amazing update! Your story is so unique...or her diary. This is a really big hearted family...taking in a child, and right from the start, treating her like their own, like there was no process of getting to know her, it was like they knew her and she was their child right from the start. Merry Christmas to her! She really deserved it though, Re: »»¦ Ãear Ĵournal: The life of a Spare ¦«« - Majick - 05-02-2009 07:48 PM I took bits and pieces from my friend's life and put it to hers. My friend is Black, married to a White guy. She's an only child, but her mother treated her like crap, she had a small room in the basement for her bedroom, because her mother turned her actual bedroom into a guest room instead. So, aside from the 5 kids, Jordan's life is similar to my friend's in many ways And of course I added a few other things in there, too. Like the divorce.
Re: »»¦ Ãear Ĵournal: The life of a Spare ¦«« - b-rad - 05-02-2009 11:44 PM Aw, that was a nice update ![]() I love how they treat Jordan so well, and how much she loves them. My mom wants to adopt those kinds of kids, but she is afraid she will get the weirdo crazy kids I cant really blame her either Re: »»¦ Ãear Ĵournal: The life of a Spare ¦«« - Majick - 05-02-2009 11:55 PM ![]() Dear Journal, We celebrated one last Christmas in our apartment. Jordan had been with us a whole year, and we decided it was time to move on to bigger and better things. They had built this amazing house not far from our complex, and Chris felt it was time we got away from the feuding neighbors, and to give the family some serious space of our own. We talked to Gavin and Jordan, and they loved the idea. Moving meant a fresh start, since they'd be changing schools, too. ![]() I came home one day to find some photos sitting on the end table. On their way out the door to school that morning, Chris snapped some pictures of the kids for me. They're growing up so fast! Gavin is already almost 18, and in his last year of highschool; and Jordan will be entering 9th grade next year! ![]() ![]() They started fresh at a new public school, but little did I know that Chris and the kids had been planning to enroll into Private School; something I never thought they'd want! I came home one night, Chris had left work early that day, claiming he felt unwell, when really he just wanted to be home in time to cook a nice dinner for the Headmaster! ![]() That night I heard Jordan and Gavin talking as he played with her in her bedroom. "Mom was so excited that we got in, and I am too." "Yeah, I know." "Gavin ..." "Hmmm?" "I start High School next year ... but you'll be gone. Do you have any tips for me?" "Stay away from the boys." "Oh, Gavin! Get serious." "I am serious! High School boys are strange and dangerous." "Are yooou dangerous?" "... mom doesn't know, but me and Trista have already gotten much more serious ..." "Have you two done it?" "Yeah." "Eeew!" ![]() I had to step away from the door. My little boy ... was already ... getting serious with a girl. My stomach ached. I could just imagine any day now he'd be coming home and telling me Trista was pregnant. I wanted to just kill him. But ... he was a smart boy. He knew fully well about the birds and the bees, and the stork and babies. He'd be okay ... he had to be. I went down stairs and told Chris what I had over heard, he just smiled, and held me close. "He's 18 Gabrielle ... he was bound to grow up sooner or later." "But he's still in highschool." "Not for much longer, come summer he'll be graduating." "I know, but ... he's my baby." "No, he's not a baby anymore." He was right, but I couldn't help it. Chris then kissed me, and hugged me tight. "He'll be fine. And if something does happen, we'll be there for him. Right?" I nodded. "Yeah, of course we will!" "Then don't worry. Kids make mistakes, and if he makes one we'll be there to help support him." ![]() Gavin graduated High School, and Jordan had a growth spurt. One day Gavin came down stairs with a picture in his hand. "Mom, since Jordan is starting High School next week ... she decided she needed a make-over." "... needed?" "Yeah, we've been up in her room ... making her over." My eyes went to the picture. "What's that?" "A picture of Jordan ... we figure if you freak out, we can change it before she actually steps out of the house, and we have a picture as proof." I just laughed, and he handed me the picture. I loved it, to be honest. I smiled, and told him to let his sister know she's not dead or grounded, and that her little make-over is fine with me. Gavin hopped up with a whoot and a hollar, and ran back upstairs. I kept the picture, naturally, to tape in here. ![]() Gavin started working, and Jordan was doing great in her classes. One day, Isaiah came by. Jordan went out to greet him I figured to tell him Gavin wasn't home, but when I glanced out the window ... I dropped my cup of tea. They were holding hands, and kissing! What the heck did she think she was doing?! Isaiah was almost 21 years old, she was 15! Chris held me back, and told me to calm down. A lot of girls go through a phase where they want to date older men. But ... her brother's half-brother? That was like ... dating her own brother! Chris had to remind me ... Jordan is adopted. She doesn't see nor have a relationship to Isaiah as a brother or half-brother like Gavin does. And as usual, he had a point. But ... my baby! ![]() They came back inside, and I cleaned up my tea. Around lunch time I went upstairs to tell them Gavin was home, and that I'd have lunch ready soon, and when I opened the door, I let out a gasp. They shot around real quick. "MOM!" "Gabrielle!" "NO! Downstairs, both of you, NOW!" They both ran right past me, and out the front door, Gavin looked confused, and angry. Chris had been explaining the day to him. As I walked into the kitchen, I heard the front door shut again; Gavin had followed them outside. ![]() "Isaiah, that's our sister!" "Nooo, that's your sister. She has no relationship to me, whatsoever." "That's gross!" "Only to you, you've grown up the last several years with her as your sister, of course you're weirded out by this. But I haven't. She's always been your sister to me, sure. But it is different." "You need to go home, now, before I slug you!" "Seriously?! Gavin, come on!" ![]() "Gavin, back off! He's your half-brother, not mine. I tried to think of him as my half-brother too, but I can't. The moment I met him, I had a huuuge crush on him. I about DIED when I found out he was related to you! But we've been talking off and on for the past several years, there is no real relationship of us to each other, so back off." "Jo, you can't do this! He is way too old for you if nothing else!" "He is not! You've never played the part of protective brother before, so stop doing it now!" "You never gave me a reason to before! And wipe that grin off your face, Isaiah or I'll slap it off!" "Gavin!" ![]() Next thing I knew, Chris was out the door, breaking up a fight between the boys. We sent Isaiah home, and Jordan up to her room. Gavin went to take a shower. The phone rang, and it was Nathan, he was furious. I explained what happened today, and he fell silent for a while. The line beeped, and I told him he had to call back later, it was my parents. Only, it wasn't my parents. It was my sister, Gypsy. Our parents had died. I stood there, frozen. The kids had never met their grandparents, we lived too far away. It had been years since I'd even spoken to my parents. Gypsy I heard from pretty often, but they were always out, living life to the fullest they said in the background from time to time when I asked where they were headed to that time. Gavin came into the room, and stared at me. He asked if I was okay, I had gone pale like I'd seen a ghost. I told Gypsy I'd call her back, I needed to sit down. I didn't sit down, I paced. I cried softly, and Gavin walked with me. Followed me from room to room, as if waiting for me to collapse. I stopped, and faced him. "My parents died." Was all I could say. "Oh mom, I'm sorry!" He hugged me, and I hugged him. I cried some more. ![]() ![]() I don't know if it was guilt, or the fact that something else was wrong, but Gavin stepped back, he looked so nervous. "Mom..." "Hm?" "Trista and I ..." Oh no ... Oh God ... don't tell me ... "We're ... having s3x. Have been for a few months now, really." "Is she pregnant?" "No, no! No she's not." Oh thank heaven! I exhaled. "I just ... thought I should tell you." ![]() Whew. We then called Jordan and Chris down to tell them the news, and to have a long talk with Jordan and her brother about safe s3x and the maturity to decide when it's time; Jordan was dating Isaiah, who was much older than her - and now that she knew Gavin was having s3x we had to lay down some serious expectations, guidlenes and rules. ~~~ Sneak peak at what's to come ~~~
