Seriously, Brad, it's not that difficult.
The average life expectancy for a man is 75, right? So you're most like to die around that year, give or take a few years.
So Paul, for example, could live until he was 78 but you could live until you're 74. So technically Paul would have lived longer than you by 3 years. It makes no difference because your birth years are so close, either of you could die first.
