Birth control doesn't make it so you don't have periods xD
Well, some do. There are ones out there that make it so you only have 3-4 periods a year (every 3-4 months). But I do NOT trust those. A friend of mine worked with a girl who took one of the shots that did that, so that she only had 4 periods a year.
She started gaining weight, and only in her tummy, so she went to the doctor. She wasn't pregnant, but her body thought she was. Her body was gaining weight, and was even preparing itself as though she was pregnant, but there was NO baby inside. Mood swings, cravings, everything. But no actual baby.
So, I refuse to do that. I'll just stick to the usual birth control and have my usual shorter than average periods. A lot of the Birth Control out there now actually helps with periods. Makes the cramping a LOT better, you always know when you're due so no more unexpected accidents at school/work, and the one I was taking ... well ... I'd been using it for almost 4 years, and never had a scare or got pregnant once. We stopped using other protection not long after I started the BC pills.
They put me on the pills I was on because some BC Pills also cause water weight gain, usually only 3-5 lbs but still. As an already large woman, they put me on a pill that wouldn't cause any additional weight. Which made me happy.
If for nothing else, I say BC Pills are a blessing because you'll almost always have a regular period, they'll last a little shorter (usually shorter by 2-3 days!), and the cramping is no where near as bad :3 My periods used to last me anywhere from 7-9 days, when I got on the BC Pills it only lasted 5 :3
I'm not saying to use BC as a means to not have to worry about still using other protection, because you should always practice safe s3x, ALWAYS. Especially when you're young, no matter how "in love" you think you are, you're young and these feelings, as well as your personalities, are going to change as you get older. I thought back when I was 17 that I would end up marrying my boyfriend, we'd have a family together, all that. I never imagined we wouldn't last. But, 2 years later we broke up and to this day he won't talk to me (even though the break up was his fault, go fig!) and I'm with Sean, my Fiance, now.
It's hard to tell what you're going to be doing day to day, let alone years from now. So take care of yourself now and ALWAYS play it safe.

Today I found out my friend's sister has a bun in the oven. She turned 17 in March. {rolleyes} It happens all the time over here though... just thought I should let you all know.
