yep, That would've been one year ago yesterday. i don't think it had anything to do with the apocalypse though. Ther'll be an 08/08/08 this year. Smile

I don't think the apocalypse will be in 2012. that's ridiculous!

mind you, if it did, I would've just ended my childhood. No adult or responsible life for me! Big Grin

My 21st birthday was on the 20/02/2002 (a palindrome in the UK date format) ... it's more funky than freaky, but still...

Well, at least your birthday wasn't the end of the world!

That would've been the worst birthday ever! Smile {lol}

Okay, about the 21.12.2012 conspiracy, there is more to it than the Mayan calender, which is already enough to support the theory (they predicted exact dates of luna eclipses, for example, all those thousands of years ago - and they also predicted someting to do with 'conflict' between countries on the day of September 11th, 2001 - so who's the say they don't know about this?). Let me explain something about the Mayan calendar - the Mayans were obsessed with time. They had three calendars, and I know this because I watched a History Channel thing on YouTube all about the doomsday conspiracy and it named all three and went into depth, but I can't remember the names. The last one was the one that signalled the last day the world would see through as 21st December, 2012. But why?

Well, something is going to happen on the 21st December 2012. This is a fact. Something that only happens every 26,000 years.
This is going to be hard for me to explain as I barely understand it myself. Infact, Ill quote it:

Our solar system is part of a huge disc shaped collection of stars and planets called the Milky Way. We're located somewhere on the edge of the disc, slightly on top of the narrow disc. But very soon we'll be moving to the bottom of the disc. This change, from top to bottom, begins on December 21, 2012.

Yes, that's right. On the same day when our Sun is at it's solar maximum, something will happen that's never happened before -- the ecliptic of our solar system will intersect with the Glactic plane, called the "Galactic Equator" of the Milky Way! [see star chart]

If you imagine our solar system as a bunch of peas on a plate, with a huge meatball in the center, imagine the Milky Way as a city-size pizza with the "Guiness World Book Record Meatball" in its center!

Prior to December 2012 we have been drifting on the top of the pizza, never really able to see the bottom. The plate and pizza are not parallel. They are moving at different angles. We've been drifting down, down, down... and on December 21st, 2012, we will be exactly level with the crust -- forming an "x" at the Galactic Equator where galactic gravity is the strongest. After 2012, if we are still here, we will be passing through the bottom zone, viewing the Milky Way pizza from the South.

By some amazing coincidence, not only will we be intersecting with the Galactic Equator, but we will be doing this precisely aligned with the center of the Galaxy where there is maximum mass! More mass means more gravity. More gravity means more influence from those barycenters in our Sun. That means exponential increases in solar disruptions -- all coinciding on the same day! Whew!

Ok. This has been a "light weight" description of what's going to happen. It has been simplified to the point where some scholars and scientists could argue about my presentation. But the main facts are true. The date, December 21, 2012, is a special day. It represents the maximum possible influences for solar flares that the universe can provide. Undoubtedly the Mayans, or the civilization that influenced them, somehow knew about these things.

Maybe that doesn't make sense, but basically, on December 21st, 2012, the planets will allign in a way they have never done before, and we will be passing through the milky way, from the top (where we've always been, or been for 26,000 years, one of the two) of it, right through it, and then of course if the world exists still (which I'm 99.9% sure it will, but still) we will be beneath it. Mayans presumably predicted that something about this strange and rare occurance is going to go wrong.

Lot's of people are predicting that the world will not cease to exist but things will change be it for the bad (maybe more terrorist attacks, famine, global warming disasters and wars) or the good (we'll see the light and make a postive change in the world; less of the above). The Mayans predicted a huge flood that wipes out the entire population OR maybe it would mean to say it cleanses the world? Who knows?

I just want to go back to the Mayan calendar again. The Mayan Calendar is comprised of 5 sections all consisting of thousands of years, I think, and we're in the very last section, the 5th one, right now. And according to them, it's coming to an end. The biggest question people have is, does that merely mean we'll move onto a new stage of sections (it's more complicted than this but I'm trying to keep it understandable) or does that mean it's all over after the 5th section ends on December 21st, 2012?

Oooh, spooky. Wink

I also forgot to ention that during the process of passing through the milky way, the Earth will wobble, but I don't know the extent of this.

What? that's creepy! So, what will happen to us when that's over? Will we all be dead, or will it be exactly the same as before?

Because i'm starting to believe the ddomsday theory.....

Re: 7th July 2005 - London Bombings - Cassie - 08-07-2008 10:17 AM

I couldn't really say, I don't really know what to think of it. It has a lot of evidence to back it up but honestly, I don't think the world will end on that day. It's just too... odd. If Scientists had any major concerns about what will happen during the process of the Earth passing through the crust, surely they would have made some kind of action by now? Most people don't even know anything about this doomsday conspiracy, and I really wish I didn't, either. I'm going to be nervous on that day, I'll tell you that. Tongue

I'll bet some kind of natural disaster happens (possibly an earthquake due to the wobble) but then it will just pass like any other... and time will continue as normal. That's my honest opinion. But the whole thing does freak me out a bit, because it just seems really... real, to me. On The History Channel, when they were doing a documentary about it, they were actually supporting the theory rather than turning it away and calling it fake.
