All the icons (as far as I make out) are: a business suitcase, a steaming cup of coffee, paramedic sign, teacher's hat, something that looks like a chair (possibly working in a furniture shop? Or maybe it means the cinema/theater?), a chef hat, police badge.
The teacher one would indeed be quite cool, especially if they pestered the kids with their schoolwork all the time and the kids hated it.

i'm guessing the cup of coffee would be the slacker career since that was the icon in sims 2. ???

Yes, cup of tea is slacker. Someone said that teaching career was in ofb so I guess the only new one is the movie/television career but I guess you can be famous afterall!
Maybe we just can't see them all, I've noticed the science career is missing, maybe the astronaut I thought I saw was the tea cup lol.

there is science in the game its been confirmed.
WOuldnt it be cool if like the kids had a mum or dad as a teacher and the mum and dad helped them with their homeworks and made sure they got good grades

I hope there is more than ten careers, and more part time jobs, and the expansions come along.
I would love to see a pet store job...you sims can own a pet store, then one being the manager of a grocery store, and his advantage is to get food free or at an reduced price.
Then the teacher job...wooooo....I feel sorry for the ones that deal with bad kids. I had a stool fly over my head in class before..two boys got into it...it got uglier when the teacher stepped in...Boy, they have a job... {no}
