Really? It's not really the quality we're talking about. It's more of the fact that newly build houses and such aren't on there.

Whoa....
We have this HUGE field in our town, and it's filled with houses just built, and an Ace hardware store, but all I see is the field and an old house where the hardware store is...wow. They need to UPDATE!

If you think about just how many photos the satellite would need to take to cover the entire world (or most of it), I think they are doing quite a good job of only just being a few years old! The world is quite a big place!
Another thing worth remembering is that they're letting us use it for free ... I love google {wub}

I assume that there is a humongous camera on the satellite pointing down at us, and as it orbits it just takes loads of pictures which then streams them down to Google/NASA/whomever.
It's all very clever though and I think, very interesting!
